“Give thanks with a grateful heart” is a worship song I know, and my heart is filled with thanksgiving. I had a profound moment this week, which if the security guard had his way I would have missed. So, I have decided to dedicate the month of October with gratitude. I do give thanks during my prayer and time during meditation, throughout the the course of the day I give thank and extend thanks to those I meet. This month is to highlight some of the things I am most thankful for and I hope you can join in with me, as we remember the things, we are most thankful for.
I am so grateful to the Creator of the Universe for giving me the family I have. I have been fortunate to be blessed with wonderful parents, who have shown me their love and support over the years growing up and their ongoing support towards me and my family, they have been instrumental in my business and have all my business cards. Whenever I return to Dominica, they alert the village about me coming and organise opportunities for me do workshops in schools, those are the kind of parents you want. Also, they have been my spiritual guides and prayed continuously and for everything they do I am grateful. September was an incredibly Special month as we celebrated my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and although we were unable to be there, our virtual presence on Zoom was a delight to see my parents smiling faces.
I am grateful to the support my ex-husband gives to our son, he has been there since day one and although we are no longer together, we have been able to coparent successfully. I am grateful for that.
I have been blessed with 3 siblings all whom I love very much, each of them in their own way has been a support to me, a guide in life and helped so much with my children over the years. I am grateful for your love. I have 2 wonderful sisters in law and they both have blessed me with a beautiful connection and glorious nieces and nephews, for that I am profoundly grateful.
I am grateful for my daughter and my son who have blessed me with their characters and personalities, their behaviours have massively improved over the years. They are both smart and ambitious, thoughtful, and kind young people. Although our journey has been tough, we have overcome so much together. I am aware that during the lockdown many family relationships became strained and I recognise we became stronger, I am grateful.
I am grateful for the career path I have had over the past 15 years as I have met and worked with so many wonderful people and our relationships have continued even though we are no longer working together. I am grateful for all my clients that I have worked with over the past 6 years, I have learnt so much over the many workshops I’ve delivered and I am grateful that I am still in contact with so many over them. I am grateful for the new opportunities coming to my life.
I am grateful for my close friendships as your love and support helps me more than words can say, I a, grateful for all the laughs and jokes in our WhatsApp groups and the times we have spent socialising, I am grateful.
I am grateful for my life, for taking time to develop myself, for being kind to myself, loving myself, correcting myself, listening to others, having a vision, being able to communicate with so many people in different ways. I am grateful for so many things, can you list the things that you are grateful for.
I encourage you to take part in these simple but powerful exercises as part of your ongoing personal development.
